    - 5n= 5 times of n(5*n)
    - But 5+n= 5+n

    Therefore, 5n has a larger magnitude than 5+n:)

    so, 5n has a larger magnitude than 5+n. :)

    for example:
    if n=1,
    then
    (5*1)5n=5
    &
    (5+1)5+n=6
    which makes 5+n have a larger magnitude than 5n
    but if n=2
    then
    (5*2)5n=10
    &
    (5+2)5+n=7
    which makes 5n have a larger magnitude than 5+n
    hence,the answer depends on the value of n

  16. It really depends on the value of n
    as Cheryl said, if n=1 then
    5n=5*n but...
    5+n=5+1
    =6 hence...
    the expression 5+n will have a larger magnitude.
    but if for example n=1.45 then
    5n=5*n
    =7.25 and...
    5+n=5+1.45
    =6.45 hence...
    the expression with the largest magnitude will be 5n.

    So, it totally depends on the value of n

    5n=5*n
    5+n=(5+n)

    So,
    If n=1
    5*n=5*1
    =5

    5+n=5+1
    =6

    The example above shows that 5+n has a larger magnitude than 5n.


    HOWEVER,

    If n=2(and above)
    5*n=5*2
    =10

    5+n=5+2
    =7

    This example shows that 5*n has a larger magnitude than 5+n.



    Conclusion, the answer depends on the value of n.

    the answer depends on the value of n
    for example:
    if n=1,
    then
    (5*1)5n=5
    &
    (5+1)5+n=6
    which makes 5+n have a larger magnitude than 5n
    but if n=2
    then
    (5*2)5n=10
    &
    (5+2)5+n=7
    which makes 5n have a larger magnitude than 5+n
    hence,the answer depends on the value of n

  21. If the value of n is not 0 or 1,
    then the value of 5n would be bigger than 5+n.
    For 5xn would become 0 or 5,
    and then 5+n would be still 5 or 6.
    So it still depends on the value.

    but if n=2
    then
    5n would be 5*2 which is 10
    &

    this makes 5n a larger magnitude than 5+n

    that is why,the answer will depend on the value of n

  26. Just some side thought...

    Assuming there is minus infinity and plus infinity and the distance of infinity from zero is the same. There are more values of n that will make 5 + N to be of larger magnitude compared to 5 X N. So I will nominate 5 + N to be a more powerful expression.

When the value of n is greater than 1.25, 5n is a more powerful expression but when the value of n is lesser than 1.25, 5+n is a more powerful expression but in the case where n is equal to 1.25, the value of 5+n and 5n is the same. Hence, it depends on the value of n to determine which expression has a larger magnitude.
