the answer depends on the value of n for example: if n=1, then (5*1)5n=5 & (5+1)5+n=6 which makes 5+n have a larger magnitude than 5n but if n=2 then (5*2)5n=10 & (5+2)5+n=7 which makes 5n have a larger magnitude than 5+n hence, the answer depends on the value of n
It really depends on the value of n as Cheryl said, if n=1 then 5n=5*n but... 5+n=5+1 =6 hence... the expression 5+n will have a larger magnitude. but if for example n=1.45 then 5n=5*n =7.25 and... 5+n=5+1.45 =6.45 hence... the expression with the largest magnitude will be 5n.
the answer depends on the value of n for example: if n=1, then (5*1)5n=5 & (5+1)5+n=6 which makes 5+n have a larger magnitude than 5n but if n=2 then (5*2)5n=10 & (5+2)5+n=7 which makes 5n have a larger magnitude than 5+n hence, the answer depends on the value of n
If the value of n is not 0 or 1, then the value of 5n would be bigger than 5+n. For 5xn would become 0 or 5, and then 5+n would be still 5 or 6. So it still depends on the value.

it really depends on the value of n if n=1, then 5n will equal 5*1 which is 5 and 5+n will equal to 5+1 which is 6 This makes 5+n a larger magnitude than 5n but if n=2 then 5n would be 5*2 which is 10 & 5+n would be 5+2 which is 7 this makes 5n a larger magnitude than 5+n
that is why,the answer will depend on the value of n
Assuming there is minus infinity and plus infinity and the distance of infinity from zero is the same. There are more values of n that will make 5 + N to be of larger magnitude compared to 5 X N. So I will nominate 5 + N to be a more powerful expression.
When the value of n is greater than 1.25, 5n is a more powerful expression but when the value of n is lesser than 1.25, 5+n is a more powerful expression but in the case where n is equal to 1.25, the value of 5+n and 5n is the same. Hence, it depends on the value of n to determine which expression has a larger magnitude.
Hmmm, tough question... let me go home and think about it...
ReplyDelete5n has a larger magnitude than 5+n
ReplyDeletewhy is it so, Wai Kit?
ReplyDeletehi 1D peeps, where are you? i m waiting for your comments
ReplyDelete5n has larger magnitude than 5+n
ReplyDelete5n = 5*n
5+n = 5+n
5n has a larger magnitude than 5+n
ReplyDeleteBecause 5n=5*n
But 5+n=5+n
Therefore 5n is larger
5n has a larger magnitude than 5+n
ReplyDeleteBecause,
5n=5*n
But,
5+n=5+n
Hence, 5n is larger
And,multiply is bigger than addition.
ReplyDelete5n has larger magnitude than 5+n
ReplyDeletecuz :
5n = 5*n
5+n = 5+n
o-o i think so bah...
5n has larger magnitude than 5+n cuz:
ReplyDelete- 5n = 5*n
- 5+n= 5+n ( which most of the 1d explain like that too )
5n has a larger magnitude than 5+n because
ReplyDelete5n= 5 times of n
But 5n+5= 5n+5
Therefore, 5n has a larger magnitude than 5n+5:)
Oh sorry there's a error is should be:
ReplyDelete5n has a larger magnitude than 5+n because
- 5n= 5 times of n(5*n)
- But 5+n= 5+n
Therefore, 5n has a larger magnitude than 5+n:)
Sorry><
5n has a larger magnitude than 5+n.
ReplyDeleteBecause 5n= 5 * n
5+n=5 + n
so, 5n has a larger magnitude than 5+n. :)
the answer depends on the value of n
ReplyDeletefor example:
if n=1,
then
(5*1)5n=5
&
(5+1)5+n=6
which makes 5+n have a larger magnitude than 5n
but if n=2
then
(5*2)5n=10
&
(5+2)5+n=7
which makes 5n have a larger magnitude than 5+n
hence, the answer depends on the value of n
excellent answer, Cheryl.. very good observation and analysis of algebraic expression..
ReplyDelete;)
It really depends on the value of n
ReplyDeleteas Cheryl said, if n=1 then
5n=5*n but...
5+n=5+1
=6 hence...
the expression 5+n will have a larger magnitude.
but if for example n=1.45 then
5n=5*n
=7.25 and...
5+n=5+1.45
=6.45 hence...
the expression with the largest magnitude will be 5n.
So, it totally depends on the value of n
haha ... excellent answer Cheryl.... haha... gd jod GAL!
Ans: -
ReplyDelete5n=5*n
5+n=(5+n)
So,
If n=1
5*n=5*1
=5
5+n=5+1
=6
The example above shows that 5+n has a larger magnitude than 5n.
HOWEVER,
If n=2(and above)
5*n=5*2
=10
5+n=5+2
=7
This example shows that 5*n has a larger magnitude than 5+n.
Conclusion, the answer depends on the value of n.
Go Go Cheryl!! >.<
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the value of n.
ReplyDeletee.g.If n=1,5*1=5 and 5+1=6.
5n
ReplyDeleteMy answer is what the rest of the 1D said
the answer depends on the value of n
for example:
if n=1,
then
(5*1)5n=5
&
(5+1)5+n=6
which makes 5+n have a larger magnitude than 5n
but if n=2
then
(5*2)5n=10
&
(5+2)5+n=7
which makes 5n have a larger magnitude than 5+n
hence, the answer depends on the value of n
i smart right???

ReplyDeleteif n=1,
then
5n will equal 5*1 which is 5
and
5+n will equal to 5+1 which is 6
This makes 5+n a larger magnitude than 5n
but if n=2
then
5n would be 5*2 which is 10
&
5+n would be 5+2 which is 7
this makes 5n a larger magnitude than 5+n
that is why,the answer will depend on the value of n
Omg ? Tough question ... Cause N might be larger than 1 so 5+n might be smaller yeah ? But what if n is 1 ? So yeah....
ReplyDelete5n has a larger magnitude than 5+n
ReplyDeleteBecause 5n=5*n
But 5+n=5+n
Therefore 5n is larger
so 1D..in this case, the conclusion is that..
ReplyDeleteit depends on the value of n..
clear example is shown when n=1 and n=2..
hope u have a good insight from this simple exercise
Just some side thought...
